The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are equipped with displays that operate at a refresh rate of 60Hz.

Although the iPhone 15 series has only been on the market for a brief two months, rumors about the next year’s iPhone 16 series have already surfaced online. According to the latest speculation, the iPhone 16 Pro models are anticipated to introduce larger displays, with the iPhone 16 Pro featuring a 6.27-inch display and the iPhone 16 Pro Max potentially incorporating a 6.86-inch display. Conversely, it is suggested that Apple will continue with a 60Hz display for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, maintaining consistency with their iPhone 15 counterparts. The Pro variants, on the other hand, might adopt a 120Hz screen.

A recent post from the South Korean blog Naver proposes that the iPhone 16 Pro could boast a 6.27-inch display, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max might feature a larger 6.86-inch display. These Pro models are speculated to utilize 120Hz displays employing low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology.

In contrast, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are rumored to retain 6.12-inch and 6.69-inch displays, respectively, with a 60Hz refresh rate—matching the size and refresh rate of their iPhone 15 counterparts. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro from this year boast 6.1-inch OLED displays, while the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max come with larger 6.7-inch OLED displays. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models support ProMotion, featuring a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. It is anticipated that the vanilla and Plus models in the iPhone 16 lineup might still feature 60Hz LTPO displays. Additionally, all models in the lineup are expected to incorporate a Dynamic Island.

The recent leak aligns with the information previously stated by DSCC analyst Ross Young in May. Young’s predictions suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models, set to launch in 2024, will showcase display sizes of approximately 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. He anticipates that the standard models will maintain display sizes of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. This speculation is also supported by well-known tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve).
