Reports indicate that the Asus ROG Phone 8 is poised to follow the Asus ROG Phone 7.

The impending arrival of the Asus ROG Phone 8 series is generating speculation, positioned as the successor to the ROG Phone 7 lineup. Unlike its predecessor, the upcoming series is anticipated to offer a base model, a Pro variant, and an Ultimate model. While Asus has divulged details about the processors powering these gaming smartphones, the official launch timeline remains undisclosed. The ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate were introduced in April earlier this year, and recent insights from a Geekbench listing hinted at key specifications for the forthcoming models. The high-end Ultimate version has now purportedly surfaced on the 3C certification site.

According to a report from MySmartPrice, the Asus ROG Phone 8 Ultimate, identified by the model number ASUS_AI2401_A, has been identified in the 3C certification listing. Notably, the report reveals that the phone is equipped with 65W fast charging support, as indicated by the listing, and also suggests the presence of 5G connectivity.

Asus has officially confirmed that the ROG Phone 8 models will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets, promising a notable 30% improvement in performance compared to the preceding processors. With the introduction of this new System-on-Chip (SoC), the battery and GPU performance of the phones are expected to increase by 20% and 25%, respectively.

A previous Geekbench listing hinted at potential specifications for the ROG Phone 8 Ultimate, including up to 16GB of RAM and the pre-installed Android 14 operating system. For context, the pricing of the ROG Phone 7 models in India was set at Rs. 74,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant and Rs. 99,999 for the 16GB + 512GB option at the time of launch. Both models were available in Storm White colors, with the base model also offering a Phantom Black variant.

The ROG Phone 7 series is currently powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoCs paired with Adreno 740 GPUs, offering up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS4.0 internal storage. These devices feature 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED displays, 32-megapixel front camera sensors, and a triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel macro shooter. The phones are equipped with 6,000mAh batteries supporting 65W wired fast charging.
