In October, Oppo launched ColorOS 14 for its flagship phones, the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro.

Oppo has officially launched the global version of ColorOS 14, which is built on Android 14. The latest iteration, featuring an Aquamorphic design, was introduced for Oppo’s flagship phones, including the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro, in October. Notable updates include the Trinity Engine, designed to enhance RAM and storage management, and a revamped UI layer incorporating AI-powered features and enhanced privacy functionalities. Oppo has disclosed the devices set to receive the global beta versions of ColorOS 14 in the coming days, including models like the Oppo Find X5 series, Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G, and Oppo A77, which began receiving public beta versions in October.

On Thursday, Oppo officially commenced the global rollout of ColorOS 14, revealing a new UI layer with an Aquamorphic design inspired by water. This update introduces AI-powered smart features and a safety and privacy protection tool.

ColorOS 14 comes with aquamorphic-themed ringtones and seven global UI sound designs. The Aqua Dynamics design incorporates interactive elements into bubbles, capsules, and panels that seamlessly display information extending from the status bar. The Always-On Display includes a Go Green feature to promote awareness of climate change and environmental protection, offering three sets of Environment Vision pages with animations that change based on daily step count.

ColorOS 14 introduces Smart Touch, an AI-powered feature enabling users to select and collect text, images, and videos from both system and third-party apps, organizing them in the File Dock or consolidating them into a single note through intuitive gestures. The File Dock on the Smart Sidebar facilitates quick content sharing across apps via split-screen, floating windows, or the Dock itself. Additionally, the update introduces Smart Image Matting for cropping multiple subjects from a single image or paused video.

The Trinity Engine bundled with ColorOS 14 enhances memory and storage capabilities. The ROM Vitalization feature compresses app and file data through App Compression and File Compression within the Phone Manager setting, potentially saving up to 20GB of storage space. RAM Vitalization improves memory performance, boosting multi-app efficiency, while CPU Vitalization manages power consumption without compromising performance.

ColorOS 14 includes Smart Charging, utilizing an AI algorithm to automatically adjust charging current based on the smartphone’s usage status to prevent unnecessary battery wear. The Picture Keeper privacy feature prevents apps from misusing permissions for photos or videos.

The release timeline for ColorOS 14 began in October with flagship phones like the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro, followed by the Reno 10 Pro+ 5G, Oppo A77, and Reno 8 Pro 5G. November will see the update for the Oppo Find X2 series, more Reno 10 series, and the Reno 8 series, with older Oppo phones scheduled for December and early next year.
