Oppo India appears to be preparing for the launch of its next foldable smartphone, just seven months after the release of its predecessor. The Oppo Find N3 Flip isn’t an entirely new device but appears to be an incremental update to the Oppo Find N2 Flip, which was launched in India earlier this year.
Oppo has chosen to stick with the vertical folding form factor for now, while OnePlus is gearing up for the horizontal foldable market with its upcoming OnePlus Open, which has been officially unveiled following numerous leaks.
Although Oppo has not yet officially announced the launch date for the Find N3 Flip in India, it has begun teasing the device. In the meantime, a tipster has provided a potential launch date.
Oppo has released two teaser videos showcasing the foldable phone’s design and triple camera setup. Furthermore, Oppo is currently running a contest to promote the device.
Winners can enter a lucky draw that will run from October 3 to October 24, with the chance to win the Oppo Find N3 Flip or some Oppo audio accessories. This strongly suggests that the launch is scheduled to take place within this time frame.
A few days earlier, tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) exclusively revealed that the Oppo Find N3 Flip is likely to be launched on or before October 12. Meanwhile, Oppo’s latest post on X indicates that the foldable device is “coming soon,” indicating that its launch is imminent.
The Oppo Find N3 Flip was originally launched in China on August 23 and became the first clamshell foldable phone to feature a triple rear camera setup. It was available in three colors: Mirror Night (black), Mist Rose (pink), and Moonlight Muse (gold).
In addition to the triple rear camera setup, which now includes a 32-megapixel telephoto camera, Oppo also introduced a slightly larger cover display, measuring 3.26 inches diagonally in the same vertical orientation as the previous model, but with a slightly wider screen.
In terms of hardware, the phone is powered by a Dimensity 9200 SoC, an upgrade from the Dimensity 9000+, and comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device offers standard connectivity options and retains the same side-mounted fingerprint reader as its predecessor.
Anticipated specifications for the global variant closely resemble those of the Chinese model. However, a recent leak has provided some insight into app support on the cover display. The previous model, like its competitor at the time, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, only offered support for a limited number of widgets for both native and third-party apps.
The global variant is expected to change this, as per a previous leak, with reports suggesting it will offer support for a wide range of third-party apps, including many from Indian services such as Zomato, Swiggy, BookMyShow, mAadhar, and more.
While the leaked image displays a launcher on the cover screen with several apps pinned, it remains unclear whether the phone can actually run all of these apps on the cover screen itself.
If it can, this feature would bring Oppo’s Find N3 Flip in line with Motorola’s Razr 40 Ultra, which currently stands as the only device to successfully achieve this functionality.
